Rest has always been something I struggled with.
As a child, I hated nap time. I felt like I’d miss something.
I only wanted to sleep because of exhaustion. And would run myself into exhaustion if I could.
But God does not desire His children to be exhausted. He desires restful, tranquil beings. How else would we be able to make clear headed decisions?
So now I’m exploring rest as surrenderance.
Not because I need to, but because it benefits all of me: my body, my Self, and my connection to higher consciousness.
Surrenderance is the act of surrendering.
It’s conscious and intentional.
And can be uncomfortable, if not terrifying for some.
Rest is the pause from work and action for the sake of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Rest as surrenderance is simply pausing to allow yourself the check in. To ask
“When was the last time I had water?”
“Are my shoulder tense?”
“What do I want to eat for dinner?”
Whatever floats to the surface.
So I’ll ask you now, what does rest as surrenderance look like for you in this moment?
If you’re unable to answer now, try asking yourself before you go to bed or when you first wake up.
Trust what comes up.
Make time to explore it.
And maybe try it again the next day.
If you feel called, let me know what comes up for you. I’d love to discuss.
